weather, and to deal with emergency situations. It
offers new skills in coastal navigation and marlin spike seamanship.
Some areas reviewed are:- Relative Bearings; running fixes;effects of current & leeway.

ADVANCED PILOTING
Prerequisite; Piloting Course
Advanced coastal navigation
principles will enable you to know where you are at all times. Determining a boats position by
using landmarks and navigational
aids; allowing for current and
leeway; tides and tidal currents.
Some areas reviewed are:-Steering
& timing a course; additional
chart work; tides & tidal currents; electronic navigational aids; introduction to the sextant

CELESTIAL NAVIGATION
Prerequisite; Advanced piloting
This course applies the science
of cartography and astronomy to
set a course and determine a
position at sea.
Some areas reviewed are:- Using
a sextant; the Nautical Almanac; sites and site reduction by formula
or scientific calculator; the Pilot & Great Circle Charts; & much more.
