This Squadron was formed in 1979, sponsored by the Castlegar Squadron. We are a part of the CPS Western Canada Inland District which consists of the Squadrons from the Okanagan Valley to Saskatoon.

The Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons has over 34,200 full members.Other than a small paid staff at headquarters, all training and administrative work is done by volunteer members.

Our most important activity is training . The CPS National Training Department of dedicated volunteer members, develops , maintains and administers all our course material.
The Squadron Training Officer is responsible for organising courses, course material and instructors to meet the squadrons' requirements.
The Squadron is run by a ' Bridge' of 10 officers who are elected annually. Squadron members are offered the opportunity to increase their knowledge through a series of advanced and elective courses. They are encouraged to share their knowledge with others by functioning as instructors or proctors for ongoing courses

We are a non regulatory, non military, non governmental   organization, and while we may advise federal, provincial, or local governments on boating safety, we do not assist in the enforcement of regulations.
